Sequence Dancing

sequence dancing1

Sequence Dancing is danced in couples and it is common in U3A for two women to dance together.

It is based on ballroom dancing with a sequence of steps being repeated throughout each dance.  We do a wide selection of sequence dances, many of them widely available on YouTube, including cha chas, foxtrots, quicksteps, waltzes, jive, saunters, tangos and rumbas.

Dancing is a very enjoyable social activity and there is a real sense of fun in our group.  We want members to enjoy dancing while exercising their minds and bodies.

The group is suitable for complete beginners and intermediates. Our leader, Roberta Redpath, a fully qualified ballroom, salsa and sequence dance teacher, teaches new dances in detail, which providers a refresher for those who thought they knew them. Dances are repeated regularly week by week, to allow us to build up a repertoire of dances we're familiar with.

You can find links to online videos of the dances we do at Sequence Dancing Links.
